Dr. Douglas Zwemer is a board-certified surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with over 25 years of experience. He is the founder of Zwemer Surgical, PLC, in Muskegon, Michigan, where he specializes in general surgery. Dr. Zwemer completed his medical degree at Wayne State University, followed by a surgical residency and chief residency at Saint John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zwemer has held leadership roles, including Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Mercy Health Muskegon. He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Michigan State University and a Physician Champion for the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative. Dr. Zwemer is an active member of numerous professional societies and a recipient of multiple teaching awards, including Educator of the Year.
